Prayers for Competitive Cubicles | The Tree of Life

Prayers for Competitive Work Spaces are words of encouragement for those trying to be salt, leaven, and light in vocational cultures of animosity, antagonism, and ambition.

Holy Tree of Life,

You were the center of our garden. The North Star amidst the mist.

Your arms gave us shade from the scorching light of judgment.

Our eyes marveled at your verdancy and manifold pigments.

You were a wonder to behold. Your fruit, vast.

Though you were not forbidden to us, we chose to be out of touch.

Now a flaming sword of labor haunts our reach.

The beautiful beasts of checklists and to-dos tug our gaze from you.

The rapidity of activities vex us.

The incessancy of expectations breaks us down.

The tumultuous change is chopping down our family interaction.

O Rooted One, we need your might. We crave your fruit.

Breathe joy into our circles and squares.

Grant us to live forever in the moment of every moment.

Duck down and permit us to ascend and sit on your shoulders.

Stretch out your arms and allow us to swing from your branches.

Bearer of the Cross, we desire your protection. Shed your bark.

Reorient our hard-headed pens.

Redeem our vindictive keyboards.

Help us to bleed in sacrificial service to You.

Preserve and keep our Kingdom efforts for generations to come.

When evil befalls us, help us to feast on your succulent fruit.

When the serpent whispers, guide us along the paths of the water.

When we doubt your Word, remind us of your promises.

Be our Tree of Life, Ark of Protection, Cross of Redemption, and Altar of Sacrifice this day, and every day, for ages to come.

Amen.
