The Christian religion is finding opposition in the wider culture, and for this reason it is necessary that the upcoming generation be equipped to deal with opposition to the faith.

Seminary for Society is a resource in public and cultural theology from me, Kyle David Bennett, Director of Christian Education at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church, Scholar-in-Residence in Neo-Calvinism at Fuller Seminary, guest on the Parrhesian podcast, We Make Christians podcast, co-host of the Two Pour Spirits podcast, and author of Practices of Love. I tweet here, and my C.V. is here.
On this site I'll address themes and issues in the areas of spiritual formation, public theology, and cultural practices. Like a seminary education, these resources are meant to equip you for the ministry. But this field of ministry is the "public square," which at the moment is not very fond of Christian beliefs, values, and practices. And if we’re honest with ourselves, not many Christians know how to inhabit spaces with non-Christians without evading, compromising, or fighting.
So on this site, I’m interested in helping the Church think theologically about everything from the soil to the sky, photography to politicking, coffee to calling so that the saints might be able to articulate Christian principles and perspectives on these topics. But I’m also interested in helping the Church discern and determine spiritual postures and practices for every stage and office in their lives as they journey through life in society—crib to casket, parent to professor, rocker to retiree.
Asking questions like: How can I be a Christian in Babylon? How am I supposed to share space with the Canaanites? How do I seek the welfare of the city while I'm in captivity? How do I have fellowship with the Greeks without falling back into the flesh? How am I supposed to talk to the Romans? Can one be a Christian citizen outside Christendom? What do I do if there are crusades? What are dirt, nostrils, clouds, trees, dogs, swords, marriage, and salvation for?
The Newsletter will be published pretty regularly. These are the resources I will offer in the Newsletter.

The Syllabus: A Seminary for Society Vidcast
I am firmly Protestant, historically and confessionally Reformed, and ecumenically and evangelically engaged. The Bible is my only rule of faith and obedience, but I am a capital “T” Traditional Christian. I read the medieval mystics, love Søren Kierkegaard, collaborate with a Catholic, and I am very interested in applying monastic principles and practices to everyday life. My doctoral training was in phenomenology of religious practices, Reformed public theology, and social ethics.
Because I am a capital “T” Traditional Christian, I know that reading and writing isn’t a one-way street. We need each other to chisel our thinking, direct each other to relevant books, interesting articles, and foundational cultural artifacts, and to teach each other a thing or two. Please consider becoming a part of this learning community by subscribing to this newsletter. I look forward to learning and growing with you as we image, represent, and witness to our Lord in this present age.
